"Sanctuary"
.
|
I like the idea of writing about my paintings but a lot
of times I don't know where to start but then I realized that the whole
story for me is in the title. My wife Terry actually titled "Sanctuary'. I knew the feeling I was trying to capture and felt I was successful but I didn't know how to put those feelings into words. I put the patio bricks in the painting to show or give the feeling that the figure was just outside her home, maybe outside a shower room. I put the model and the house in a very secluded environment. I wanted to convey that the person in the painting was safe and secure in being partially nude and outside. I also wanted this safe feeling to come across to the buyer so that when this painting is hanging in there house that relaxed and safe feeling would enhance there home.
I showed Terry the finished painting and told her I was having trouble with the title. She immediately knew what the paint was conveying but she also was having trouble coming up with the right word. Then it came to her and she gave me the title and I knew it was right. |
